I love buttons!

I do. They are like jewelry for your knitting! Buttons can make or break a finished project, and finding just the right one is sometimes quite the endeavor! Luckily for you, we have a ton of buttons to choose from here at the shop, and a staff that Looooooooves to help pick buttons!

I wanted to share with you pics of new buttons that we just got in that I am in love with. First, these cute shiny hearts:
So cute! I love that turquoise one on the top left!

Next, these gorgeous engraved ovals:
I mean, come on, aren't these beautiful??

The next ones are from Ecobutterfly, and they are all handmade out of recycled glass:
They're all a little irregular and no two are the same, and I think they are so charming!! I might have to plan a project around these buttons, I just love them.

Last but not least, their handmade glass toggles:
So cute! Come in today and check out our HUGE selection!

Show and Tell Fun

Last Thursday night we had our Springtime Show and Tell night here at the shop!

Anne looking super cute in her "Fly Your Heart" hat

It was lots and lots of fun (like it always is)! We had a pretty good turn out, yummy snacks, and lots of knitting and crochet inspiration!

What to knit, what to knit...

Hey everyone, Kaity here! If you came to our "Ewe-Niversity" and took some classes, you got one skein of Tahki Cotton Classic in your goody bag. I took it as a challenge to see what I could knit with just one little skein of this great yarn, and I found the cutest pattern on Ravelry called "Summerlin".

You knit the bodice, and then sew a little skirt to attach to the bottom, and it turns out so cute! I had this little piece of fabric in my sewing stash that matched, so I made the Apron Top version of the pattern, but there is another option in the pattern for a dress that uses a little more fabric.

I'd like to knit this again and make the longer version, because these are so cute, and fast to knit! You can easily knit the bodice in one sitting, and the sewing doesn't take much time at all. You can attach it to the top with your sewing machine, or hand sew it on, which I may do for the next one I make.

So, one skein of yarn will make the bodice (I could probably get two more of the smallest size out of the ball I have leftover), and a little bit of cute fabric (good news: we have a quilt store right next door to us!) and maybe a little ribbon to finish it off, super cute!

"Ewe-Niversity" - Success!

Hey guys, it's Kaity! I haven't posted here in a while (and I know I've been slacking on the How-To Monday videos lately, sorry!) but I thought I would write up a post to talk about how much fun we had on Saturday at our very first Ewe-Niversity!

First, I want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you that came out and made it such a fun event. It was so great to see everyone, we hope you all had as much fun as we did!

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, the Ewe-Niversity was a day-long event featuring 27 different mini half-hour classes, a yarn tasting, delicious catered lunch from Royal Bakery, and a book signing with Wendy Bernard. If you missed out, never fear, we may be doing this again!!

At the end of the day we had so many people come up to us and tell us how much fun they had, and we were glad to hear it! I know all of the instructors (Lois, Anne, Karin, Terry, Elisa, and I) had a great time.

Lunch was so yummy, a huge thanks to Royal Bakery for doing such a great job preparing it for us!

Our Goodie Bags where a huge hit, too! Anne, Karin, and I sewed them together, Terry strung all the drawstrings, and Lois pressed them and got them printed with our adorable sheepy friend! If you want to see pictures from our "Sweatshop" sewing extravaganza, click here. We have tons of projects bvags left over, too, and you can buy them here at the shop for $8.

We had them stuffed with gifts from our awesome Sponsors: Artyarns, Bryson, Crystal Palace, Debbie Bliss, Madelinetosh, Mirasol, Manos del Uruguay, Misti Alpaca, Noro, Plymouth, Tahki, and Skacel. Some of these companies donated prizes for our raffle, which was a lot of fun, too!

Yarn tasting was fun, and the yarn bowls we had for sale sold out super fast! (Don't worry, we'll order more!)

Over all, it was a great day, if you want to see the rest of the pictures from the day, click here.
